Salehe Bembury PUMA Velum 2 Drops Sept 3
The Salehe Bembury x PUMA Velum 2 sneaker launches on September 3. It evolves the original's design with a layered upper, fingerprint textures, and NITROFOAM cushioning, debuting in 'Terracotta' and 'Alloy' colorways.

The Salehe Bembury x PUMA Velum 2 sneaker is set for release on September 3. This second iteration from the designer's partnership with the sportswear giant evolves the original's design language rather than reinventing it completely, as Bembury exclusively explained to Hypebeast.
Bembury described his design philosophy for the sequel. "The first version establishes a design language, and the next gives you an opportunity to refine that language, exaggerate certain ideas, resolve others, and introduce something new without losing the identity that made the original recognizable," he said. His goal was for people to see the new model's lineage while understanding its reason for existing.
Design Evolution
"With Velum 2, the opportunity was to evolve the upper while maintaining the tooling and visual DNA established by the original," Bembury stated. He was interested in changing the shoe's personality without altering its foundation. The result is a more dynamic look. The Velum 1's sleek taping and webbing are traded for a more aggressive, layered upper construction.
This new upper features amorphous overlays and translucent mesh. The designer's signature fingerprint motif is prominently embossed on the tongue. That same texture appears on the sculptural midsoles, which are carried over from the first Velum model.
Signature Details & Tech
Branding incorporates Bembury's unique touch. PUMA's wordmark on the tongue head and lateral heel is reworked using the fingerprint texture. Bembury's own wordmark is discreetly printed onto the outsole. The sneaker is built for performance as well as style. It utilizes PUMA's NITROFOAM cushioning throughout.
This nitrogen-infused thermoplastic foam provides a lightweight and comfortable feel. The technical specs contribute to the shoe's wearability.
Inaugural Colorways
"Color is one of the quickest ways to communicate the personality of a product," Bembury noted. The first release on September 3 will feature two distinct color options. A monochromatic orange pair is dubbed "Terracotta." A silver pair with yellow soles is named "Alloy."
Bembury explained the different statements each color makes. "Alloy allows you to really see the form, material transitions and construction of the shoe, while Terracotta introduces something warmer and more organic," he said. Early previews suggest more colors are coming. A blue and a neon yellow colorway are expected to drop at a later date.
Each pair will be presented in special packaging. The limited-edition co-branded box is covered in a blue-and-orange fingerprint pattern. The Velum 2 will be available at select PUMA stores and on the brand's official web store. This release follows the debut of the Velum 1 silhouette in the summer of 2025, marking the continued fusion of Bembury's design identity with PUMA's performance heritage.
