Norda and Black Diamond have launched a collaborative collection built around the new norda 000 trail running shoe.
Norda and Black Diamond Equipment have entered a long-term partnership, launching a new collection anchored by the all-new norda 000 trail running silhouette. The gear line, which debuted at Sanglard Sports in Chamonix, France, is available now on both brands' websites.
The collaboration unites norda's footwear expertise with Black Diamond's mountain equipment heritage. The goal was to create a fully integrated kit for efficient movement in alpine environments, moving beyond a simple co-branding exercise. The partnership was sparked by a shared admiration for mountain runner Joe Grant and his approach to traversing trails.
The Collaborative Process
Creative teams from both brands built the partnership from the ground up. Adam John, norda’s Creative Director, explained that rather than modifying an existing shoe, they created the norda 000 as a new model to dictate the desired type of movement. Dan Rowe, Special Projects and Design Lead at Black Diamond, noted an immediate mutual respect between the design teams. He said finding the collaborative spirit took time and flowed organically, centered on a shared belief in creating purposeful, considered products without superfluous elements.
The Core Product: The norda 000
At the heart of the collection is the norda 000, designed specifically for long days of high-mountain running on variable and uneven terrain. The shoe incorporates norda's signature use of Dyneema®, which the brand calls the world’s strongest fiber. This focus on durable, advanced materials established a technical ethos that informed the entire collaborative range.

Black Diamond contributed a suite of equipment reimagined with new materials to match the shoe's performance. The accompanying gear selection includes several pieces informed by the input of mountain runner Joe Grant.
